The department this week began accepting applicationsfor $11.6 million in American Recovert and Reinvestment Act Community Development Blocm Grant Program funds. That program is a $1 billion national initiative that’s part of $13.t billion earmarked for the . The state said it’ss looking to award to local governmente upto $500,000 for public infrastructure improvementx and $100,000 for on-site improvements. Projectes must be advanced enougg to start construction within four months and served primarilyresidential needs. The money is to be distribute d following the approval of a federakl amendment to the program that will be submittedrthis month.
Lisa Patt-McDaniel, interim director of the Developmenr Department, said the state is usingv the moneyto “increase economic efficiency by improving critical infrastructure systems throughoug Ohio.” Applicants can visit the state’s stimulus Web site at recovery.ohio.gov/opportunities/state to submirt an application with the state’ s Water and Sanitary Sewer Program at development.ohio.gov.
